Bio: Maria was born into a life more familiar with the majority of mages living inside the Kingdoms of magic. A human father and a mage mother brought a pair of sisters into This Earth, the older of whom was considered a prodigy in the psychic arts. In her late teens, Maria began venturing out into the human territories to see what else the world had to offer, and not long in, fate intervened. When Willem first embarked on his journey to learn the words for things he already knew, Maria was the first person he encountered who would help him, and they have been close friends ever since. Maria is the administrative linchpin of his empire, utilizing her mental prowess to keep his machine running smoothly.

Powers: Even though psychics are among the most common type of mage, it has the least occurrences of adepts, of which Maria is included. She learned young to pick at the edges of free wills to get her way as well as remain undetected. Maria can trick someone into not only doing her bidding, but thinking it was their idea in the first place. Her telepathy is less developed, so while she can lift massive inanimate objects with her mind, her finesse keeping them aloft can be lacking at times.

Extra Lore: For someone who spends so much time with her mind working several tasks at once, Maria takes a single day of the week to unwind, and only at Willem’s insistence, as he doesn’t want her to burn out. While on sabbatical, she purges her mind of obligation by listening to music as loud as she can, driving fast, and drinking hard. Being spontaneous, mindless, and reckless works wonders cleaning out the psychic lines, refreshing her for another week of crucial management of a budding empire.

Quirk: Often during her free time, Maria will cast a timed hex on herself, dumb enough for her natural self to be ashamed of. The weight of her tasks and her devotion can be taxing and sometimes leave her unable to enjoy herself. She often laughs at the stupid things she says or does in this state once she has been returned to normal.
