Integrated Reality offers the ultimate sabbatical

The Hub

This Earth’s virtual world is the grandest of all its modern wonders. Created from the unearthed internet of a past age which faced ruination, it is a connection from the present to both the past as well as the future. It started with text-based communication, then moved onto video, where it evolved into a melding of augmented reality and virtual reality, known to its users as IR, or ‘integrated reality’. The Hub is made from three distinct ‘zones’, with unique experiences. Rewards gained from one cannot be brought across borders without feasible conversion or discreet hacking.

The Nation is a simulation of the real world, where players race, shoot, and vie for clicks and likes. The Realm is a place of fantasy, of dragons and magic, where dungeons are raided and crafting is essential to survive. The Sky Zone is far above both, where users can simulate a life among the stars, warring for territory or mining asteroids for resources to sell at busy markets.

Behind each zone is a triad of powerful algorithms which procedurally generate trials for users as well as maintaining a single, persistent world. While the Hub was first made as a basis for communication, it is unclear who exactly is in control of or owns the core data around which the rest is built. As more and more users take the Hub for granted, fewer and fewer cared about its origins, future, or it’s true purpose.
